St. Croix Valley Shrine Club
unveils new Spring Fund raiser
by Milt Helmer
The St. Croix Valley Shrine Club today announced a new and exciting Spring Fund raiser. Shrine Club President
Barry Ausen of Star Prairie said the new event will not only benefit the Shrine Club, but will also provide
needed store traffic for the sponsoring businesses. Known as "Rallye in the Valley", it is a road rally of years
gone by; much like some of the poker runs so popular in the area, but with an interesting twist.
The participants who play purchase a book filled with advertisers from throughout the St. Croix Valley.
The object is to visit each business from April 1st to July 15th and have each ad in the book stamped to
verify their stop. When players are done making stops on the tour, the books are turned in to
the Shrine Club who draws winners from prizes donated by the sponsoring businesses. Players in the Rallye
are encouraged to visit all the locations on the route. The more stops they make, the more chances they have
to win one of the merchandise prizes. Over $3,500 in merchandise prizes is being offered.
If the players make all the stops they are eligible to be entered into a drawing for two grand
prizes of a half of beef from Olson's Meats in Woodville and a whole hog from Sailer's Meats in Elmwood.
Milt Helmer, Chairman of the event said, "people can really have fun with this event. Some are planning to hop in
their sports car, dress up in racing togs and make it a really fun time."
The books are being sold for $10 each to the general public with all of these proceeds going direct to the Shrine Club.
The cost of the books and advertising is covered by the advertisers.
Books are available from any Shrine member or by calling either Barry Ausen at 715-377-3022 or Milt Helmer at
715-821-5002. You can also email Milt at miltonhelmer@gmail.com with your book requests.
There is no purchase necessary at each stop, however advertisers are giving special offers for Rallye players
along the route.
Drawing for winners in the Rallye will take place at the Shrine Club's summer golf outing on July 25th at the
Amery Golf Club in Amery, Wisconsin.
The list of advertisers reads like a whose-who of the St. Croix Valley.

Hinck's Economart, Outdoor Store and Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery. In Clear Lake, players can stop at
